The restaurant is located in the heart of Historic Downtown Bloomington, in what was once Central Fire Station.

In 1900 a laundromat caught fire, which quickly spread throughout the city. The Great Fire of 1900 caused significant damage, destroying 45 buildings, and completely transforming Downtown Bloomington. In response Central Fire Station was constructed in 1902 to protect and serve the city as its main fire station until 1974.

After sitting vacant for a couple of years, the building was remodeled as a restaurant. Its design was basically as it is today: the engine stalls are now the main dining room, the horses were kept in what is now our kitchen, and the firemen's quarters were remodeled into banquet rooms and Anju Above. In the past few decades the restaurant has continued to improve with all new woodwork, updated interior designs and an ever-improving menu.
